This is a set of two bowls. The color is a very nice light blue. I make all my glazes from natural ash, feldspar and rice stalk. The color is derived not from iron but from the mixture of ashes.
The clay is from the island of Kyushu in Japan, the same area that Arita ceramics come from. This porcelain is processed by wooden pounders that give it an unusual strength. The clay is mixed half and half with clay from Kyoto.
It took me many firings to get this soft blue glaze. The color is achieved by adding regular ash to a base of natural feldspar, rice stalk ash and red pine ash.
