This is a lovely vintage mixing bowl from the popular Franciscan Desert Rose pattern.
The colors are cream, rose, green and brown and it measures 7.25" across and 4.25" high.
It bears the black Franciscan half moon, made in California backstamp (see pic). I am told this is the oldest backstamp on FDR mixing bowls and is from the 1940's.
This bowl is valued at $135 to $180 in the 2005-2006 "Franciscan: An American Dinnerware Tradition" by Bob Page.
The bowl has a nice glossy finish on the outside and the inside shows some surface scratches from minimal use.
There are two hairline fractures on the outside that can be seen with a magnifying glass, but they appear to be under the glaze.
There are two small scratched areas on the bottom, probably from nesting or contact on a counter top. These areas are discolored (see pic - upper outside edge of rim), but smooth to the touch and do not show when the bowl is in the "sitting" position.
This is an excellent opportunity to add a very nice piece to your collection at a very reasonable price.
