Hello, Marvel Comics and DC Comics superheroes! This is a vintage ONE OF A KIND original hand-painted colorist art/color guide page used in the direct production of the 1981 "Marvel and DC Present" Giant Treasury Edition BATMAN vs THE INCREDIBLE HULK issue.  I recently acquired nearly all the pages from this monumental crossover, and this listing is for the page shown. This Dark Knight vs Hulk story featured art by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, and the Colorist for this issue is Glynis Wein (also known as Glynis Oliver). When this crossover happened in the early 1980's, it was only the 2nd time Marvel and DC's heroes confronted each other. Back in the 80's, it was a big deal! Unlike most color guide pages that measure about 11 by 8 1/2 inches, most pages from this story measure a HUGE 14 by 11 inches because it was produced for a DC/Marvel Treasury Edition oversized comic book. This is the only color guide of this page in existence, period.

Color guides/colorist's artwork are re-sized copies of the pencil and ink original artwork that are assigned to the issue's colorist, and then hand colored by that colorist. Colorguides measure about the same size as the published comic book, and some have "color codes" for the printers to follow. Computer coloring has made hand painted colorist artwork extinct and now highly collectible! Some color guides have tears, pieces missing, smudges, etc. This is completely normal, because color guides were not originally intended to be kept or collected. Many were discarded, and nearly all comics are colored by computers now (no more color guides are being made), and that's what makes these remaining color guides so rare and sought after.  This description is (C) RLC.
