Creating warm sweaters, blankets and other items requires clear and accurate patterns. It also requires technique and practice.

These are skills that were once commonly passed down thru the generations. Now, sadly, that's not often the case. To learn the art of tatting, one needs only a computer and this CD.

Each document included here is unique and includes patterns and instructions for several different projects and objects.

The veteran tatter pro will surely find something new to make and the beginner will find more information in one place than ever before. This is a superb addition to your pattern collection and in CD format, it's easy to use and store too!

~ TATTING ~ RARE 1870 INSTRUCTIONS & 65 FULL PATTERNS

Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace constructed by a series of knots and loops.

Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well as doilies, collars, and other decorative pieces.

The lace is formed by a pattern of rings and chains formed from a series of lark's head (or half-hitch) knots, called double stitches (ds), over a core thread.

This is a rare instruction book for creating tatted items from 1870.

INTRODUCTION TO TATTING FANCY WORK PATTERNS

Tatting is a pretty and elegant work. Tatting as a fashionable fancy work was introduced to London as far back as 1850.

Although tatting was overtaken by Point Lace, it is still a very unique and worthwhile art to pursue.

This is a beautiful document that details the basics of tatting and includes many illustrations a very detailed description of the stitches.

The patterns discussed will make for interesting work for both beginner and pro.

THE ART OF TATTING WITH MANY PATTERNS & INSTRUCTIONS

The English name of tatting is said to be derived from Ťtattersť and to denote the frail disconnected character of the fabric.

By the Italians it was formerly called Ťocchiť, whilst in the East it still bears the name of Ťmakoukť, from the shuttle used in making it.

In the eighteenth century, when tatting was in great vogue, much larger shuttles than our present ones were used, because of the voluminous materials they had to carry, silk cord being one.

Now in the 21st Century, this document brings back to life this very old artform. With plenty of illustrations and detailed instructions, the beginner and the experienced tatter will find this document to be a valuable addition to their collection.
