African Hand Carved Walnut Finish Kenyan Soapstone Oval Bowl

Vast quarries of soapstone, a metamorphic rock that resembles talc, can be found in the Tabaka Hills of western Kenya. Artisans in Kisii Town mine the stone and carve it into a variety of rough forms. Nairobi artisans collect the raw forms and apply rich hand painted finishes to create decorative accessories with a unique African flair. Since the natural dyes used will change color upon contact with liquids, we recommend this bowl for decorative uses only.

CARE: Wipe with a damp cloth.  Water will remove the natural dye.
