Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) Virginia Creeper plant, sometimes called Woodbine, native to the Mid-Atlantic region. Many folks fail to realize the true value of this grossly underused plant in the garden. Not only is this plant beneficial for wildlife, the red color it turns in the fall is breathtaking and will go great with all those mums, asters and other fall flowers. It can be used as a ground cover or trained on a trellis. The plant will come to you in a 3.5 inch pot. Soak thoroughly before planting. Description: Virginia Creeper is a vine that has five leaves, sometime confused with poison ivy, which has three. It has tendrils that take hold of a surface and adhere. In the fall it turns bright red, and produces blue/grey berries, which are relished by many birds. Culture: Will take sun or shade, although the more sun, the more abundant the berries. Not picky about soil or moisture. Hardy in zones 3 - 8. Wildlife benefit: Great cover for shelter. Birds love the seeds. Must have plant for any bird garden. Eco-friendly grower All of my plants are grown using earth friendly techniques, from seed collection to watering with rainwater. Pots are 100% recycled, some are re-used containers, others are made from recycled plastics. Plants are fed with PLANT-TONE by Espoma, an organic fertilizer and/or worm castings. I grow plants that can replace those lost to development in order to help sustain wildlife that depend on them. You can be assured that you are not getting plants from the wild, which is unethical and further contributes to habitat loss. ***Check my other listings.
