Up for sale is a vintage Homer Laughlin baby dish in the "I Go Here" shape. Referred to as Children's Ware, they were not made in any great amount and are very hard and sometimes rare to find. Homer Laughlin has created china specifically for children since at least the 1930's. Most children's ware was initially a premium for cereal or food products. The shape, "I Go Here" was created for the International Silver Company and produced by both Homer Laughlin and Salem China Co. The manufacturers name appears as part of the backstamp. This plate bears the decal of a pretty, little, curly brown haired girl in a blue dress with a creamy yellow pinafore, seated on a blue stool. She is feeding her bibbed teddy bear in the pink high chair. The tabbed handled bowl is made to balance a child's set of utensils. On the left tab it reads in gold "I go here" says the fork. The right handle reads "I go here" says the spoon. The decal is bright and fully intact. There are a couple of faint marks on the left interior side of the bowl that are only seen when tilted to the light. The bowl is rimmed in gold- some loss noted - see photos. The gold print is strong and bright with just the the faintest of rub on the word here on the left tabbed handle. There are no noted cracks, fleabites or crazing. There is one fairly flat chip on the back of the left tabbed handle- is about 1/4" x 1/4" - not evident from the front. The bowl measures 7 3/8" in diameter, and is about 9" across the handles. It is about 1 1/4" tall. Stamped in gold on the back, it reads: MY OWN PLATE, Made for Holmes & Edwards, Division of THE INTERNATIONAL SILVER CO., U.S. Design Patent No. 88343, By the Homer Laughlin China Co. This is a precious little collectible! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
