Narrative of a Voyage to Patagonia and Terra del Fuego
through the straits of magellan in the H.M.S. Adventure and Beagle in 1826 and 1827
John MacDouall
1833 account of this extraordinary journey through Argentina and Chile. This voyage preceded the HMS Beagle voyage which generated one of the most interesting records of natural history exploration ever written and is one of the most important for it was on this voyage that Darwin prepared for his lifework, ultimately leading to, The Origin of Species. In looking back on his life Darwin wrote "The voyage of the Beagle has been by far the most important event in my life and has determined my whole career". Excellent resource.
