I bought this piece many years ago in a small antiquity shop on a backstreet in Aswan.  I love that place. Not sure if it's still there but if you go you have to have tea at the Old Cataract Hotel at the Dam - make sure you have it on the open air terrace and give yourself plenty of time as once you sit down in this marvelous place you will surely linger.  They have the most magnificent rose garden there. As you sip your tea you'll see the gently moving felucca's sailing against the cliffs - it's a beautiful and inspirational place - did you know that Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile while staying there? perhaps right on that terrace - ok - drifting off here.
Anyway this pin!  It is sterling silver - absolutley no clue how old it is but it did not come from a shop where they made these items - I bought it to re-produce for the Luxor project but soon realized that all that delicate filigree work would be a constant labor of love to reproduce. I've simply just hoarded it all these years. It measures 1 and 5/8 inches across and weighs 7 grams.  The design is very intricate and very unusual and pretty. It has a very old simple "C" clasp on the back side and is of course a bar pin. It's been in my possession for many years stored in a zip lock baggie - no tarnish to speak of other than the finish you see here.  I have many other egyptian items in my store just type in the word egyptian.
