MALAFRENA by Ursula Le Guin

This ex libris copy of Malafrena shows the typical mutilations of a withdrawn library book: stamps and marks from adhesives on front and back pages.

This a Second Impression of the 1979 GP Putnam Son's publication. The dust jacket is in good shape as it is protected by a mylar cover. The tape holding the mylar on is yellowed.

The book, apart from library markings, is very nice. Block is tight as are the hinges, and the pages are clean and crisp.

This is an unusal book from Ms. Le Guin, as it is not a fantasy, but rather a historical story set in the fictional country of Orsinia during the revolutionary uproar of the early nineteenth century.

Her hero is caught up in the struggle to gain independence for Orsinia. Malafrena depicts his turbulent life and the price he pays for his poliitical passions.
