THE FLOWER ENCYCLOPEDIA
AND GARDENER'S GUIDE
I am offered 1943 edition of the OOP New Home Library publication of this classic gardening guide by Albert E Wilskinson. It is beautifully illustrated by Tabea Hofmann with many line drawings.
This book is 542 pages long. The first half is an exhaustive flower encyclopedia that describes each flower and its hydrids in detail, as well as discussing common diseases and methods of propagation.
The second half deals with general gardening topics, including garden design, rock gardens, planning a perennial bed by size and bloom time, and how to build and use a hot bed. I had this copy in my personal gardening library for many years until space became an issue. I found it to be a very useful and lovely book.
This HC copy has some defects: the hinge is cracked at the title page, the prior owner's name and address is printed in ink on the front endpaper, bookstore price of $12.50 is penciled on front free endpaper, and owner's name is inked across top of block as pictured. Otherwise, pages are crisp and unmarked.
Dustjacket is worn as pictured: chipped at top and bottom - especially at bottom of spine-- and water stain appears on back cover. Price reflects these defects.
I ship books with USPS Media Mail. I give buyer-friendly shipping discounts on multiple purchases. So make an offer if you want more than one item!
