This is a very pretty 10-5/8" diameter red-brown on creamy white cabinet or wall plate in the San Marino shape by Vernon Kilns. This is a souvenir plate to celebrate celebrates Missouri.

The center highlights State Capitol Jefferson City, and just below that is Steamboat on the Mississippi. Then, clockwise, beginning top center other sites featured are: Municipal Opera St. Louis; Mark Twain's Home Hannibal; Liberty Memorial Kansas City; Shepherd of the Hills Country; School of Journalism, University of Missouri, Columbia; Country Club Plaza Kansas City; Bagnell Dam and Lake of the Ozarks; Hall of Waters Excelsior Springs; and a Dairy Farm Scene.

The back of the plate is marked MISSOURI MADE EXCLUSIVELY FOR A.C. MCCLURG & CO. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS BY VERNON KILNS U.S.A. Also, attached to the back is a 1.50" wide x 3.50" and 2.25" long paper label (possibly part of a box or bag) BECKY THATCHER BOOK SHOP 211 HILL STREET HANNIBAL, MO. Handwritten in pencil on the paper label is the date Nov. 6, 1949.

The plate is in excellent condition; there are no flea-bites, chips, cracks, flakes, crazing or repairs. A.C. McClurg & Co., a well-known publishing house based in Chicago, IL. was founded shortly after the Civil War.
